Race schedule and info » July 5, 2022 CHANGES to 2022 TMCCC Race Program » 1/13/2019 2:15 pm

Very good on combining two classes, there could probably be more combined. Is Outlaw really needed? It was turned into an “all run” last year, is that what it will be this year too? If so, it’s a giant class, compared to what it was originally. Less people might run the Money class if it’s there. If it’s all run again, rename it to some sort of consolation race.
It just seems adding more classes will make for a longer day, something tracks and even racers would like to shorten, especially tracks that have a Sunday evening program.

General discussion » Oct 28th date @ Xtreme Raceway » 8/27/2018 7:38 pm

Are they still having a Sunday night crowd? Just wondering since the last race is usually the Big Dog. You know how some TXR race days went.

General discussion » Suggestions for Low Car Count Races » 8/10/2018 8:29 am

Maybe it’s time to restructure the format. I know it’s great having so many classes, but maybe it’s time to combine a few. That means less trophies to buy, less end of year award money paid out, a shorter race day. Street and Stock is one example to combine.

Have a Gamblers race afterwards, with the track keeping a decent amount of the purse to help cover the day. $20-$25 dollar entry. If it paid $100 to win, $50 to runner up, 10 cars would cover it and leave $100 to the track. And I’m sure there would be more than 10 entries.

Maybe it’s time to change how much the tracks give back to the club. If they made more money, they might want us there. The other option is raising entry fees, but I’m not sure how many racers want that. When the cost gets close to what we pay at a normal bracket race that pays out nice money, it doesn’t seem right racing for a trophy.

But I think ANY change needs to be done by voting. And not just officers, by everyone signed up for points. No changes are going to be right for everyone, but it seems something needs to change?

General discussion » Suggestions for Low Car Count Races » 6/12/2018 1:08 pm

I can say the long travel is a deal killer for me, I haven’t bothered racing the last two years. I like driving my car everywhere, but there is a limit to how far and how often. Ardmore was my limit, but they don’t seem to want us back. Maybe it’s time to shorten the amount of races, and do one out of town and whatever amount the local tracks will give us. Adding an extra race to the out of town ones will make a longer day, and a worse Monday morning for some of us. Most of us just do it for fun, when you travel that far, most want a chance to win enough money to help cover the day.

Gates open at 2, TT at 3, eliminations at 6.... Get there at 5 and still make TT's if you had to work. Just a suggestion, the track would have to agree too. I don't care either way, but I hate being up against the Sunday crowd.

General discussion » Kennedale » 10/05/2015 5:38 am

Yes it sucks being rushed out. But do you really want to be there any longer? Sunday's at TXR have been there a long time, and probably make way more money than we bring in. Plus, unless there's long delays/cleanups, we should be done anyway. Maybe everyone should get together and decide if Saturday's would be better for TXR only. There are only two bracket races a month, the 1st and 3rd Saturday's, so that leaves it open.

General discussion » A word of caution » 10/10/2014 8:31 pm

If EMT's were there, they should have been on the scene, ambulance or no ambulance on the grounds. I think their main focus is to stabilize the patient until the "real" ambulance gets there. Not that I've seen a lot of people go to the hospital, but usually the city ambulance will show up to cart them away. And the EMT's are not allowed to grab a fire extinguisher if your car is on fire, unless they are there as fireman too. Too much liability nowadays for people to be able to jump in and help.  So keep that in mind, note where the fire extinguishers are at the tracks, 30 seconds could make all the difference.

General discussion » Points Update ? » 10/06/2014 8:16 pm

I won't make all the races next year, but I'm joining points next year. First, I want a permanent number, and if I do decent, I'd like to see where I wind up in the points. Plus, if I have questions or ideas, it only makes sense to be joined up, and be a part of meetings/votes, if any take place. This is a great organization and I enjoy racing with it, and have raced off and on in these for about 15 or so years.

General discussion » A word of caution » 10/03/2014 8:27 pm

Sad, there have been two fatalities on golf carts this year, one was at the Nationals here, and one in Denver. All it takes is to fall off, just right, and the results are not good. Besides, it's hard to stop and talk if you buzz by on something. That's what I like most about these races, lots of good conversation.

General discussion » North Star 9-28-14 and Texas Raceway 10-5-14 » 10/03/2014 6:36 am

To me, it's all about good sportsmanship. If two racers agree to postpone a race, and it does not interfere with anyone else, that sounds good to me. As long as it does not go against any rules or cause problems that is. I'm the kind of guy that will wait at the stripe if you have problems or won't start. Now if the burn out has already been done, the normal 60 second wait rule should apply.

General discussion » Could Kennedale have been any worse? » 9/19/2014 5:05 pm

Nope, didn't say that at all. Plus, I don't see any entry fees. This is a part time deal for me, the money I make will not pay my water bill. I do it because I have a passion for this hobby, and thought I was making a difference. What I meant was, my mistake for taking part in this message board discussion.

General discussion » Could Kennedale have been any worse? » 9/19/2014 2:58 pm

Well, I guess ya'll taught me something today. Now I know why most track employees (all tracks) put blinders on and say "It is what it is"

General discussion » Could Kennedale have been any worse? » 9/19/2014 2:26 pm

Calling everyone up at once was a cluster, was not supposed to happen, it was never done this way before... Will be corrected (I hope, tower is out of my control) If you want the street tire cars in the groove, the Club and Mark will have to agree or  vote on that (my opinion) and I wouldn't care one way or the other, but traction will be compromised with the street tires in the groove. Go ask any 6.80 or faster car what they think next Sunday, all the slick guys that talked to me are glad it is being done. Racing should be fun, if going to a certain track is unpleasant for you, you shouldn't go, I have places I will not go, just personal preference. Mistakes happen, I make them at my weekly job, and I'm pretty sure there is no one that never screws up something.

General discussion » Could Kennedale have been any worse? » 9/19/2014 11:36 am

Ah, now I see about the water. The bad part is, that is where the drain is for the water box, so that's why there is too much water back there. They were supposed to not spray when street tire cars came up to try to keep it dry. They do need more training... I try to help on that. We have one more shot on 10/05 hopefully things will go better! If there's any problems, we are always trying to get it right, just let us know. I hope no one took my previous post as being a "butt head" it was just meant to point out the "whys" of some things. I'm always open to discuss any problems, and that goes for any track I'm at. I'm not afraid to help out or find out why something happened.
See ya'll at Northstar

General discussion » Could Kennedale have been any worse? » 9/19/2014 6:39 am

I'll address some of this... And yes, it was not a smooth day.
No time slips? The tower has a print out, if you somehow don't get one, they will write you one out. And the score borads were off for a few passes, we don't race off score boards, we do need them for dial ins later. Still not a unforgivable disaster.

Bathroom disaster? When feminine things get stuck, it will over flow. No one knows until someone lets employees know.

Tech? If you look, there are lots of new faces. They had no clue what a MC Challenge was until that morning. As far as "pick your favorite number?" Thats what I got told at TM a while back. Lots of people want their "own" number (car year, ect...)

Now, I'm REALLY not going to make friends here... Street tires out of the slick groove. Northstar did this first, TM followed a couple of weeks ago, TXR followed. Get ready, THIS is the future. Street tire guys want to be in the groove that the slicks produce, and I promise you, it destroys the groove in a hurry. Imagine you have just put in a new flower bed, looks great, then some guy comes through with a tiller. When the racing starts, the entire starting line is even, the slick guys produce their own groove, the street tires have theirs. If you had any water (or lake as it was put) I must have missed it, I'm sorry. Hang out sometime and watch how hard it is to chase those trails of water that almost EVERY street car leaves. I promise you I go home sore, this is the hardest race to work the starting line due to this. And the radiator issue, that car only had water in it (no coolant), and he never got close to the launch pad, the starting line was not even close to being compromised. I have a slick car, and a small (P215/70R15) street car, and I line up out of the groove everywhere I go, my street car does not spin, and no burnout needed (runs 9.00's) Not fast, but some cars running slower have problems, I had problems, but I fixed it to go down any track, any situation... Sometimes the cones g

General discussion » ATTENTION EVERYONE » 7/22/2014 7:08 am

TXR puts cones in the groove for street tires on Sunday, it really helps. As long as the groove is widened (sprayed) the street tire cars do not have a disadvantage. Most of the Muscle Car racers do a good job not blowing the tires away on the starting line, or power braking when staging (even the slightest "turning the tires" when staging is bad) that is what really destroys the track. Cars with a "stick" and slicks that leave at high rpm's can rip it down to the concrete pretty easy too. When I run the Mustang at TMCCC events, I always line up out of the groove, even though I have slicks. That is my groove all day. I know that usually in the late rounds, the normal groove will be slick.

Does it always have to be Sundays? I think there's another one that's a Saturday night race somewhere??? Ya'll might see if TXR would go for a Saturday race...

Hey Broom, save me a spot Sunday!

Don't tell us you are going to Redline. Are you going to work the starting line?

Am I not welcome there? LOL!  Yes, I think I'll crawl out from under my rock and come racing. I guess if they need help, I'm always ready to help out any track I'm at. Never been to Redline, I figure this is a good time to go. Going to be a tough weekend though, TXR tonight, a couple of hours sleep, fishing at Towakani tomorrow, TXR again Saturday night, then Redline Sunday. Chase me to the lanes, I won't be worth anything I'll be so tired!!!

Lol  Thats funny i seen your guys marking spots off Sunday with chairs and cones and parking there cars sideways to save spots.hahaha.  So after every pass you will lone me your genator and battery charger so i can cool my car down. But sense there is only 4 in our clubat the most at a race  we will still do what we do  Sorry

I can totally understand saving a few spots for your buddies but placing cones for the entire club when you have more than 5 members is just being selfish to everyone else in the pits. Take for instance RRCC they save 4-5 spaces but they pack them with 12 or more cars. Last Sunday I parked by Mark and we had 4 cars parked in 2 spots 2 cars had trailers and we had the smoker. The point I was trying to make with the thread is that it's not really fair for the poeple that get to the races before the gates even open to have to drive past 30 empty parking spots be for they park just because the 1st 3 people in line cone off half of the parking lot. Sunday I drove in to Northstar at 9:45, I had to park at the very end of the track which I totally expected. What I didn't expect was passing 15 parking spots that were coned off by other clubs that weren't being used and ended up just being a more spread out group.

I agree! It really sucks when there is wasted space, we all like a lot of room, but at theses races where the pits are packed, it makes sense to "tighten up" With cell phones/texting, ect... there is no reason NOT to know who is not going to show up and adjust the saved spots. I usually bring the Maverick to these, and it's real easy for me to "squeeze" in and not take up much room.

General discussion » Want more racing? » 7/13/2013 9:13 pm

Now that the Summer break is here, if you need a "fix" don't forget TXR has brackets every 1st and 3rd Saturday. There is a Street Class that's cheap to run, but it needs to be a street car, drive through the gate, licensed and inspected, DOT legal tires (NO slicks). If you have a race car, there's lots of options! Also, check the other tracks for programs like this too.

General discussion » Test and Tune @ TXR Wed March 7 (feedback please) » 3/04/2012 11:07 am

Looks like a Jack Pot Race Wed! $5.00 or $10.00 entry (majority rules, it's what the racers want to pay) 100% pay back. It will be open to anyone at the track. Come on out and have some fun.

General discussion » Test and Tune @ TXR Wed March 7 (feedback please) » 3/03/2012 11:14 am

Well, someone needs to say what they want to do, or we can't do it. We will do this every Wed as long as it's supported by racers.

General discussion » Test and Tune @ TXR Wed March 7 (feedback please) » 3/01/2012 3:58 pm

We would like to try some new things this year at Texas Raceway.
There are some Club members that come out several Wed nights, and several that come out the Wed before a Club race. We would like to show our appreciation by changing it up some.

Would racers be interested in running a Wed night Jack Pot Race? Maybe $10.00 (or even $5.00?) to enter it, split it 60/40? If enough Club racers show up to run it, then we could have a separate race for you, if not, it would be open to anyone. Foot Brake only, unless we could fill an "E" class.

Or, a Trophy Class is also a possible option. Due to lower car counts, it would probably be "All Run" no ET breaks, but still a FB class.

And we could have a lane for someone wanting to dial in and practice bracket racing. You could pull up with someone you want to race, or just whoever you are behind if it doesn't matter.

We do need feedback to know if there is any interest, whether you PM me, reply here, or talk to us at the track. There a a couple of us that have a passion for bracket racing, and looking to add to our program. Spread the word, Face Book it, whatever you want to do. I think some of you would like more chances to practice or have fun! Also, open to ideas....
     Thanks, Duane
