Four clubs in 3a should be in 4a and one club in 4a needs to be in 3a. Is this something that can be fixed and cleaned up? I'm to lazy to do math and think for myself.

I think you are correct on that and also there is one in 5A that should move to 4A if they don't have a lot of cars in the last 2 races. I am sure they will get it corrected by the banquet, if the rules don't change. I went back and looked and it looks like only three clubs move up. One down from 4A and one down from 5A 3 Up from 2A if that all makes any sense.

If I am not mistaken classes for the year are determined by the car totals at the end of the previous year

Well Mike I think that is the way they have done it in the past. What do you do when we are the new club and did not race under our club name last year. We have had good car count this year but will not go over the 16 car limit for 4A yet they have us in the 5A cars. We have raced under another club name but we have our own club now. If you look at the club results from previous years it shows at the very bottom of the totals, ' (5A)* Clubs which average 16 cars + per race in 2011, (4A)** Clubs which average 7 through 15 cars... (3A)*** Clubs average fewer than 7 cars...' But there was nothing listed there this year. Where do we go from here.

Didn't know it was based off last year's count. Thought it should just update per race. I'm sure it's all good by the end of the season.

It will all be straight by the banquet. Mike is right in years past we moved clubs at the beginning of the year based on last years numbers. Starting this year it's based on current years numbers to make it fair to all clubs involved. Thanks

Not sure changing it at the end is a good thing . We are in the hunt For first place in 3 a if we move now there is no way to compete with 4a ..if we would have known we would be in 4a we may have changed our strategy. Or just go down in flames lol .. we are good with what ever is best Just my 2.5 cents.
Thanks

It's all good. I didn't know it was based off last year's car count. Good to know you can run 4 cars for a whole season to get put into the small class then the next year bring 15 cars a race and just dominate it. I thought it was run the last race of the season and do the math to see where everyone lands.

Maybe the size of the car club could be one of the factors . I know our small club has a 40% turn out but I know other clubs that have 800 + members and the can't get but 4 cars! .. but would have the potential to blow a class out of the water. A lot to factor in .. maybe each club post there projected car count if they go over or under estimate .. then they are penalizes.

This is what I have wanted to see, people getting involved on this board. That is the only way we can get the word out how we feel. I think I am know as a trouble maker on this borard but I let people know what I think. They may not like it but so be it. roz one I think you are correct with saying you thought you were in the running for the small club and now you don't know. We are like that with our club not knowing if they are going to change the car count again.(It has been done before). By all rights we should move down to 4A from 5A but who knows.
The car count from past years are as follows.
5A Clubs which averaged 16 or more in 2011.
4A Clubs which average 7 through 15 cars per race in 2011.
3A Clubs which average fewer than 7 cars per race for 2011.
That is the way it is for both 2011 and 2012. They both say 2011.

I think club classifcation is based on yearly averageof entries as it should be. The idea is to get clubs to get more of their members interested in racing and that moves them up in the standings.. It would be very hard to keep up with if readjusted during the race season.

It looks like 3A could be broken down and create a 2A. If you avg 3 cars like my club does that is a long way from a 7 car avg.
Just my .02

I say why not. It gives some clubs that are just getting together a chance. But that is just my opinion and you know what those are like, everyone has one. I would vote for it if it came to a vote. Hey David hang in there something may happen. All the clubs need each other to keep this thing together and you are a small club but we need you to make the good car count. I see you did not do Denton I wonder why. I will not ask. you .02 is worth as much as anyones.

Or you could join up with another small club and raise your car count. $.02 more

Your $.02 is taken but why? They are a small group that likes to run together. Why should they to be forced to run with people that they may not get along with. I don't mean forced but they would be if they wanted a club trophey. The Mopar Club is way too large and no club will ever catch them. The Mustang Club is big but the GM bunch is creeping up on them. Our club, North Texas Hotrods were trying to stay with all of them but I think we ran out of steam this year. We have fun doing this as much as anyone but let the people make their own choices and run with who they want to. Shelly and I are always trying to get more people to join the Challenge and we tell them they can run with any club they want or make their own. So what you are saying is if they want to win a club trophey they will need to join one of the big clubs? Oh by the way Stumpy you $.02 is worth as much as mine or anybodys.

I didn't say they had to join a big club or someone they don't get along with. I just suggested that as a small club they could get together with other like minded clubs and get bigger. No where did I say they had to do that it was just a suggestion same as yours. Again just my opinion
