Nick, Larry & family leaving NorthStar Dragway

To our racing family:

It is with deep sadness and regret that we have to let each of you know that our time with North Star Dragway is coming to an end. The past five years that we have been associated with NSD has been some of the happiest of our lives, and that happiness would not have been possible without each and everyone of you that supported us. Despite rising gas prices, a difficult economy, and a longer drive, we could always count on seeing our friends driving into the gate.

As you know, in 2010, we took over as the operators of the track. Things weren't always easy, and we had to make some choices on what improvements we could make and programs that we could offer. Even though we couldn't always afford to do the things we wanted to do, we always put the racers first and did whatever we could do to make your experience at our track the best that is could be.

Since our lease was abruptly and unexpectedly terminated in early July, we have continued to work with the new owners to provide a quality racing experience at the track. While things behind the scenes may have been changing, we did our absolute best to make sure that things for the racers continued as they always have. We understand that this is a hobby for you, and an expensive one, and we pride ourselves on providing the best experience possible.

Unfortunately, over the last few weeks, circumstances have arisen that have forced us to make a decision regarding our future at NSD. And with that being said, this upcoming Saturday, September 8th, will be the final day at North Star Dragway for Larry and I. This decision was extremely difficult for our family, and not one that was reached without extensive discussion. We just feel that this is the best decision for our family's happiness and will allow us to continue to provide for our families.

And, please, don't think you are going to get rid of us that easily. We will pop up somewhere and plan to continue to do what we love to do in drag racing. We will certainly keep you updated. AND WE WILL BE AT THE BRACKET FINALS TO SUPPORT OUR RACING FAMILY.

Thank you for everything you have done for our family,

Nick, Larry & family

Re: Nick, Larry & family leaving NorthStar Dragway

Thanks Bill for letting us know. I did not see this coming. I have known Larry since the mid 70's and when I saw he was taking over Denton I thought that was great. From what I have seen he and Nick have been doing a great job. I may be wrong but what I think is that the new owners think they can do it better and I bet what it is that GREED has taken over and they think they can do it better and put more money in their pocket. We will see in our next races there and see if the track is prep ed right. Nick and Larry have always done a good job of that since they have been there. It is just like anything else that is going on right now. It is all GREED and they don't care about the people that are keeping them open just give them more money. I hope Larry and Nick take another track local and make it work like they have at Denton.
